Whether it’s a place for your extended family and friends to call home when they stay over or a rental property such as an Airbnb that’s in need of some TLC, in this blog we focus on creating the perfect guest bedroom.

From hosting frequent visitors to having occasional guests, providing a welcoming and comfortable space for people to relax in your home is important. When it comes to creating the perfect guest bedroom, we’ve thought of some key elements to consider.

Tip #1 – Styling the Bed: A great bed can make all the difference! Choose high-quality white sheets for a freshly laundered look, fluffy pillows, and a cosy duvet or quilt. Layering textures like velvet throws or lace trims adds an extra sophisticated touch, inviting your guests to snuggle in for a peaceful night’s sleep.

Tip #2 – Convenient Bedside Lockers: Style them to be pretty, functional and clutter free. Whether it’s adding stylishly chic bedside table lamps, a box of tissues, somewhere for your guests to charge their phones or simply a welcome card with the WiFi password, it’s often the finer details that can make an impact.

Tip #3 – A Place to Unpack: Having a convenient place for your guests to place their suitcase on arrival helps to make their space both comfortable and practical. Whether it’s an ottoman at the foot of the bed which doubles up as a blanket box or a decorative basket under the bed which can hold their belongings neatly, having ample storage is a must! Additionally, including some extra hangers in the wardrobe for convenience, as well as providing them with empty drawers allows for more than enough room to unpack.

Tip #4 – Futureproof Your Flooring: Practical, durable flooring is never going to be wasted when it comes to investing in your guest bedroom provided you balance practicality with the aesthetics of your space. Whether it’s opting for stylish herringbone wooden flooring or a good quality carpet that’s resilient enough for wear and tear yet soft enough for comfort, carefully consider your options in line with how often you feel the space will be used.

Tip #5 – Mirror, Mirror on the Wall: A full-length mirror mounted or propped up against the wall is a nice touch to help your guests get ready. Whether it’s going out to dinner or simply a stroll to take in the local surroundings, they will appreciate the advantage of being able to view their outfits in full length.

Tip #6 – A Place to Sit: If space permits, having one or two extra chairs is a delightful feature, allowing your guests an extra place to sit as opposed to just the bed. Similar to what they’d expect in a hotel room, the extra seating adds to the comfort and opulence of your space by giving them somewhere to sit when getting ready or simply somewhere to have a drink.

Tip #7 – A Handy Waste Bin: As not every guest room has the added luxury of an ensuite, providing your guests with a waste bin provides them with somewhere to dispose of any rubbish and helps to maintain a clean, pleasant environment. Opt for a style that blends seamlessly with your décor.

Tip #8 – Complimentary Toiletries for Comfort & Care: Ensure that your guests feel relaxed and at home with a selection of essentials such as shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, hand soaps and toothpaste. This is a fabulous way to enhance the comfort of a stay, making guests feel pampered and well cared for.

Tip #9 – Save Energy with Blackout Curtains: These are a great investment not only for the summer months but also in the winter, the blackout lining works wonders at reflecting the heat of the sun and keeps the room cool. On the flipside, during the cold winter months, the blackout lining acts as an insulator and helps to keep the heat in. This is also a superb energy saver too!

Tip #10 – Don’t Forget the Snacks: Nothing welcomes guests more than a selection of complimentary snacks and drinks. Offering an assortment of tea/coffee, bottled water and sweet treats such as some locally sourced biscuits on the dressing table ahead of their arrival is sure to make a lasting impression.
