Carefully Curated: Shaunagh’s Dream Bedroom
Creating a bedroom that feels like a sanctuary is about more than just good looks. It’s about combining style, comfort, and smart design to create a space that feels uniquely yours. Whether you’re renovating or just dreaming of future upgrades, getting inspiration from real-life ideas is a great place to start.
This week, we’re exploring Shaunagh’s (our STORI Brand Manager) vision of her dream bedroom – from colour schemes to storage needs and everything in between. If you love calming interiors, clever storage, and timeless style, this one’s for you.

Describe your dream bedroom.
My dream bedroom would be a peaceful, light-filled space that radiates calm and comfort. I imagine it with clean lines, soft textures, and plenty of natural light streaming in through large windows. Built-in wardrobes are an essential, keeping everything neat while enhancing the room’s brightness.
At the centre would be a super king-sized bed layered in plush bedding, inviting cushions, and a tactile throw that adds both warmth and texture. On either side, I’d have minimalist bedside tables, functional, stylish, and free from fuss.
Freestanding furniture with a timeless feel is a must. A standout chest of drawers placed beneath a beautiful mirror would double up as a dressing table, bringing both charm and practicality into the room.

How do you want your bedroom to feel?
The feeling I’d aim for is pure retreat – a place to truly unwind. Cosy, calm, and clutter-free is the goal. For me, there’s nothing better than slipping into fresh pyjamas and sinking into a bed that feels like a warm hug.
Built-in wardrobes play a huge role in achieving this mood, helping keep everyday clutter out of sight. Let’s be honest – keeping a wardrobe picture-perfect every day is tough, so smart storage that hides the mess is a total game-changer.
What cabinetry & colour(s) would you opt for?
I’d choose the Dawson Bedroom range in Light Grey, paired with elegant silver bar and T-bar handles. This combination feels fresh yet timeless, striking the perfect balance between modern and classic.
The rest of the palette would stay soft and neutral – think warm nudes, earthy naturals, and subtle bright tones to enhance the sense of space and serenity.

What key design features would you include to achieve your aesthetic?
A few thoughtful features would really bring my dream room together:
- Window seat – A cosy nook with flowing curtains and a cushioned bench, ideal for curling up with a book or enjoying a quiet moment.
- Minimal clutter – I’d use open shelving sparingly, showcasing just a few meaningful pieces: framed photos, flower stems, and perhaps a favourite perfume.
- Floor-to-ceiling built-in wardrobes – Sleek and seamless, with mirrored doors to reflect light and make the room feel even more spacious.

Are there places you’ve been that inspire how you want your room to look?
Absolutely – luxury hotel rooms are a huge inspiration. There’s something about the plush bedding, crisp lines, and elegant finishes that instantly put you at ease. I want to recreate that feeling at home: indulgent, calming, and completely personal.
Do you need space for storage, or to keep things simple and open?
Storage is crucial, but I want it to be hidden and efficient. The goal is to maintain a clean, open atmosphere while still having space for all the essentials. An ottoman bed offers stylish, discreet storage, and I’d go for full-height fitted wardrobes with top-shelf space for seasonal items and suitcases.

How would you style your space?
Styling for me starts with comfort, especially when it comes to the bed. I’d go all in on a super king mattress, luxury bedding, duck-down duvets, and smooth 400-thread-count cotton sheets – it’s worth every penny for that hotel-quality sleep.
I love playing with textures and tones. Layered throw cushions, a soft bed throw, and carefully curated accessories would give the room a cosy, lived-in feel without clutter. It’s all about thoughtful touches that make the space feel warm, welcoming, and uniquely mine.
