This week we take a closer look at one of Naughton Kitchens & Appliances’ latest home renovation projects with STORI at the heart of it. This recently completed, large open-plan space is featured in the Winter Issue of Ireland’s Kitchen Guide.

In collaboration with the Collins family, the team at Naughton’s based in Co. Roscommon, Ireland have transformed this newly renovated home, using their expertise and creativity to deliver on Martin & Fiona’s key request – their new rooms had to have the WOW factor.

This project encompasses a large open-plan kitchen-dining-living area as well as a laundry room and walk-in pantry (possibly the most organised one we’ve ever seen!). Using a variety of ranges from our collection, Seamus and the team at Naughton’s have meticulously planned out each space to ensure style continuity throughout. A testament to great design, the space showcases how a soft black like Graphite (one of our exclusive shades) can be striking yet subtle enough to not overpower a room no matter the size when the hue is thoughtfully styled.

In the Kitchen, Wakefield, a traditional shaker door style boasting a distinctive beaded centre panel and authentic woodgrain is paired with an on-trend colour scheme of Graphite & Taupe Grey, striking a harmonious balance between contemporary and timeless design. The hues add depth to the large open-plan space which is further enhanced with the warmth of brass fluted bar handles, oak cabinetry internals and burnt orange accessories. For added grandeur, Seamus has cleverly used different panels and moulding from our accessory range to create an inframe look throughout the kitchen.

A majestic mantle creates a focal point over the Neff flex induction hob whilst bi-fold doored cabinetry to the left conceals an appliance garage housing an integrated Siemens IQ 700 coffee machine. You can also find a luxurious bar with a solid oak wine glass rack neatly concealed, with matching bi-fold doors, a real conversation starter for guests when hosting over the festive period.  A clever combination of drawers and cupboard space throughout ensures a practical kitchen with plenty of functional storage space suited to the everyday needs of the Collins family. The large island encompasses additional workspace, storage, somewhere to house the all-important wine cooler, and seating, perfect for casual dining, homework, and catchups.  All the appliances throughout the space are compatible with the Home Connect app, allowing full remote access from any smartphone or device.

The space is beautifully lit with a carefully considered lighting scheme and ample natural light sources. Perfectly placed pendant lighting, suspended over the kitchen island provides a design feature as well as critical task lighting for food preparation. Warm LED cabinetry lighting shines through the plain glazed frames either side of the hob to add to the open-plan kitchens’ ambience whilst ceiling spotlights dotted across the space provide an even coverage of illumination throughout. In conjunction with the lighting, polished floor tiles, bright white walls and subtly veined marble worktops help to brighten the space, enhancing the bright and airy feel which balances a dramatic cabinetry colour like Graphite.

A hidden walk-in ‘baking’ pantry is cleverly concealed out of sight with a pocket door just to the left-hand side of the American fridge freezer. The pantry features Kensington, one of our premium foil door ranges. The traditional style shaker door style has an ash grain effect which mimics our timber ranges, adding depth and richness to the finish. Continuing the style story from the kitchen, the Collins have mirrored the kitchens colourway and accessories in this seamlessly organised pantry. Open oak effect shelving adds warmth to the monochrome palette, whilst providing easy access to everyday essentials. Brass handles adorn the Graphite cabinetry which provides ample storage for additional appliances and cleaning products.

Overlooking the kitchen, the living area continues the dark and sophisticated cabinetry colour scheme with another one of our ranges, Tavola. Its authentic woodgrain stained in Hacienda Black ties in with the Graphite hue used on the kitchen island and the other woodgrain balances beautifully with wood slatted panelling and white walls with built in shelving. illuminated with LED strip lighting. The modern media wall is balanced with views of the mature garden, the built-in gas fire and layers of soft furnishings in varying beiges and greys.

Adjacent to the large open plan kitchen-dining area is a spacious laundry room with all the utility room essentials a family could need. Eye level appliances with pull out shelves allow for optimal laundry loading and unloading whilst ample storage is provided with a variety of cupboards.
